ZIRO PLA PRO Basic Color Series Filament 1.75mm, Red

I spent a long time looking at pictures and reviews for red PLA. Not pla+, Not Asa, Not ABS, etc. Just PLA. And I didn't like the photos or comments about the red color on others so I tried Ziro. Print quality great as usual with no tuning. And the red is an excellent solid opaque true red without looking neon, orange, brown, etc. Very close match to Bar S brand red, Special K box red, not the K. Just a great red color. Also photo next to other items that have a slightly more orange or bright red color for more comparisons.
Printed on CR10 at 200C.

This filament is just what I was looking for. Needed a nice red to add to my collection.

Worked great And prints came out great

The only PLA brand I have used has been ZIRO, since I got my 3D printer a few years ago. They were on the value side of what was available at the time ( < $20, price since has gone up 25% and more, then fluctuated). Figured I would try it, and it did very well for my intermittent printing of various small parts and accessories. So, I have ordered more, used six spools, primarily black & red, some green and yellow.

Because of the good results and good value, I have recommended it to others and given it a favorable 5 star review on AMZ.

That was until I got a bad roll.

Long story short. I had a bad roll of black filament. Ordered it as a spare over the summer '20. Started using it in December. Fresh out of the box & bag, snags, cleared, snagged again. 3D printer made horrible mechanical noise. I was lucky nothing broke. Contacted ZIRO via email, alerting them about my issue. They requested I removed a few more meters of filament and try again. Tried that again. Not an hour later, same thing. So, I replied back, including photos, showing the entanglements & visual suspect areas issues towards the center of the roll. Included my order history from AMZ and the specific order for said roll.

They acknowledged the issue. Said they had taken steps in manufacturing to prevent this, asked me to unwind more and offered me a half refund for the roll through Amazon. Now, I personally did not think that that is exactly fair, as imho they should refund or replace the entire roll. This happened out of the box with a spare roll, zero user error or mishandling on my part. (if it happens in the first five min, and is a soft snag, after mounting the roll, sure I agree user error) Time passed. Needed to print more black. Contacted ZIRO again to follow up.

They did come through and issued a refund, which I received.

So, I consider the matter resolved and will bump the rating back up to 4.

The colour and print quality is good but the spooling is awful. Constantly tangles coming off the spool.
